New Discovery: Ren

So, let’s get this out of the way, I am so sorry that my posts have not been regular the last couple of days. Holiday season is well and truly in swing and with that comes a very busy work and social schedule and little time to kick back with a cup of tea and write with a creative and free mind. However, now that I have found a few hours to myself this evening let me share with you a little discovery I have made; the Ren No 1 Purity Cleansing Balm.

Many of my readers may not know, but over the last couple of months I have been working at Mecca Cosmetica. Just a quick disclaimer that I receive no benefits for talking about their products, but obviously working there has introduced me to many ranges I have never dared try. I have heard so much about the Ren range and was lucky enough to get a full jar of this balm to try out and gee wizz do I love it or what.

It is a beautiful balm, with a calming rosewater scent to it. You only need a small fingertip size lump of the balm for your whole face and it emulsifies into a luxurious milk texture on your damp skin. Now, I am guilty as charged for going to bed with my makeup on. Eye makeup especially is such a painful thing to be scrubbing and rubbing off at 2am in the morning. This balm has changed my life! It just makes everything slide right off, including that waterproof liner and mascara. It also gets rid of the stain red lipsticks can leave on your lips. No need to scrub or rub or aggravate your already tired skin as a result of those cocktails you have had all evening. Just apply, massage into the skin and remove with a muslin cloth or just warm water and watch all the makeup melt away. Of course, it is certainly a fantastic cleanser and leaves my skin feeling smooth and calmed, but I am just a sucker for anything that helps me be a little less useless after a night out. Often the problem I have had with balms is that it leaves an oily residue on my skin and I will need to go in with a toner to get rid of that feeling. This cleansing balm doesn’t do that, making it great for all skin types; oily, dry or combination.

Now, I do have one qualm with this product; packaging. The product I got to try was in the tub form as seen in the photo. But in most stores (including Mecca Cosmetica), whether in Australia or overseas it is in a tube form. The product is quite hard at room temperature as it solidifies and the tube form makes it an absolute pain to try squeeze out of the packaging. Come on Ren, just make them all tub form and my only complaint with this product will be solved.

For those of you who don’t know, the entire Ren range is free of all those nasties that are often present in cosmetics and skincare and is one of the most natural lines on the market. This makes it great for anyone with more sensitive skin or with skin conditions such as eczema or dermatitis.

I would highly recommend this product and if you can get around the packaging issue it is definitely worth trying. A top with the packaging is possibly cutting the top of the tube off and squeezing the product into a mason jar of some sort making it far easier to use everyday. I know your local Mecca Cosmetica will be happy to give you a sample to try before taking the plunge and buying it. It doesn’t come cheap, but will last you a long time as you really don’t need much at all.
