Resveratrol: antioxidant which supports and protects collagen; may also inhibit some mechanisms of ageing by modulating gene activity

Retinol and Retinal: form of vitamin A; fat soluble; depending upon concentration, estimated to be approximately 10 times less effective than tetinoin; relatively unstable. May irritate the skin at high concentrations.

Retinyl Palmitate: also known as Vitamin A Palmitate; ester of retinol combined with palmitic acid, considered a more stable alternative to retinol or retinal for normalizing the skin’s texture and helping smooth out fine lines. Less irritating than retinol.

Retinyl Palmitate Polypeptide: water soluble formulation of Vitamin A

Rose Hips: botanical extract of rose petals found to have high concentrations of Vitamin C

Ravensara (Ravensara Aromatica) Oil: vapours open sinuses and breathing passages, improves mental clarity, relieves aches and pains.

Red Raspberry (Rubus Idaeus) Fruit Extract: rich in vitamins and minerals, especially Vitamin C. Its high tannin content gives the extract excellent astringent properties.

Riboflavin: Vitamin B2; a skin conditioner

Rice (Oryza Sativa) Starch: an emollient crystalline polymeric compound that forms a soothing protective film

Rooibos (Aspalathus Linearis) Red Bush Tea: protects the skin against oxidative stress and inflammation; rich in polyphenols, flavonoids and minerals.

Rosa Canina Extract: extract from hips of the wild rose. Soothing skin conditioner.

Rose Hip (Rose Canina) Oil: described as a healing oil due to its antiseptic properties, also helps regulate oil gland secretion. Rich in Vitamin C.

Rose Oil: credited with soothing, antispetic properties and moisture retention abilities. It is found helpful in cases of skin redness or inflammation and where moisturisation and regeneration are needed. Particularly beneficial for mature, dry or sensitive skins.

Rosemary (Rosemarinus Officinalis) Extract: an essential oil invigorating to the circulation, enhancing cellular regeneration and a natural diuretic. Contains anti oxidant properties, promotes wound healing.

Rosewood (Aniba Rosaeodora) Oil: used for a variety of skin conditions such as dryness, irritation and puffiness. Also known as Bois de Rose.
