Review: Stila Aqua Glow Watercolor Blush

My gorgeous eclectic multi-faceted wanderers (clearly I am in a loopy creative mood). Today I bring you one of my favourite things; a review. One, because it means you beautiful people can discover glorious new products and two, because it means I have been shopping and picked up goodies.

I have recently been shopping crazy. Follow me in Instagram @abohemianexistence to keep up to date with all my hauling of fashion and makeup pretties. I grabbed the Stila Aqua Glow Watercolor Blush (phew, that’s a mouthful) about two weeks ago and have been using them non stop.

Long story short: I LOVE THESE, but read on for all the juicy details.

I picked up two colours in Water Blossom (a pink-violet) and Water Poppy (a vibrant red).

These blushes have an amazing texture; imagine if water had a gel texture, that’s how I would describe these. They glide on and blend out like a dream giving you a beautiful wash of pigmented colour. I struggle with creams and liquid colours showing up on my darker complexion, but Stila always pulls through (their Convertible Cream Colours are amaze-balls too). Just gently pat and dab on to build up the layers and make it as bright or subtle as you like.

They almost have a cooling effect so are perfect for the summer, but being in winter here in Australia what I love about these is how moisturising they are. I sometimes steer clear of powders in the winter as my skin tends to be drier and powders can sit on top of the skin. Liquids and creams hydrate, blend right in and look more natural.

As you can see in the swatches they look so incredibly natural and do not look like you have a layer of product on your skin. I am not a daily foundation wearer and these look just as amazing on bare skin to give your face some colour all year round.

Now that we have established the actual product is the bees-knees, that packing is also gorgeous. I am loving the new Stila packaging with the gold theme. It just brings a new level of luxury to the brand. The blushes come in a small pot with the mesh netting that the liquid sifts through. It is easy to use and mess free, so all winning points with me.

I like to apply these by gently dabbing and layering it on with my fingers on bare skin or they work beautifully with a duo-fiber stippling brush if I already have a foundation or base on.

If you’re a fan of a glowing, natural but still glam-bam look, definitely pick these up. You can grab them at Mecca Maxima/Cosmetica here in Australia for $39 AUD. The other colours are just as beautiful and Shimmering Lotus, would be beautiful on a fairer complexion.

Short and sweet. Not much to say other than LOVE LOVE LOVE.

xox your local bohemian.

  1. So, I just got home from Ulta an hour ago. I watched Rose and Water Blossom. Cleaned it off. Did it again. Thought about it. Sat there on the fence, LOL. Bought some clarins primer and left. I should have got water blossom!!!!! In the US they are 26.00. They do appear to blend remarkably well. And I should say.. this is the second time I’ve stood there and watched these things.

    1. I totally did the same thing here in Australia. About 5 times and then caved. They are gorgeous! Something I definitely don’t have anything similar to in my collection. I guess another Ulta trip is on the cards for you 😉

      1. So, I just need to go and buy it. I guess because I’ve never bought a cream or liquid blush, I’m struggling with it. But you know, I heard Tom Ford came out with one that is awesome. I haven’t seen it in person but the fact that they put on out has me more intrigued. You apply this after your setting powder?

      2. I apply it before, but it really doesn’t need setting. These aren’t really a cream, more a gel or liquid is how I would describe them which gives them a weightless feeling on the skin compared to a cream.

I haven’t seen the Tom Ford ones but Australia is always super behind on product launches. I would be willing to guess the price tag of those would but a lot higher though. I have always been a huge fan of Stila liquids and creams, they just nail them.

They are so easy to use, I am a huge cream/liquid fan. They just blend and look so natural and radiant on the skin.

So yes, go get yourself one 😉 or two, perhaps three? xx

    1. Hey! I am so sorry for the late reply, I was actually traveling in Europe believe it or not and spent some time in Italy. I saw these at a Sephora in Barcelona, so you might have some luck 🙂
